DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin held the AIADMK government directly accountable for the tragic, preventable deaths of children from dengue, pointing out that the administration failed to take preventive action even after the DMK raised a Special Calling Attention Motion in the Legislative Assembly. He stated that ministerial apathy and dismissive responses on the floor of the House had resulted in fatal consequences for vulnerable infants.
Stalin recalled that during the assembly session, the DMK had presented verified ground reports warning about rising viral fevers and mosquito breeding across several northern districts, demanding urgent budgetary allocations and sanitation drives. However, the Health Minister dismissed the opposition's constructive alerts as exaggerated political propaganda and falsely claimed that adequate preventive mechanisms were in place. Stalin emphasized that when democratic warnings raised by the opposition inside the legislature are ignored by arrogant ruling dispensations, innocent citizens pay with their lives. He criticized the government for prioritizing PR exercises and denials over genuine public health interventions in rural and semi-urban localities.
Stalin demanded that the Chief Minister hold the Health Minister accountable and initiate immediate district-level containment operations.
