DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin urged the AIADMK state administration to immediately launch extensive precautionary and containment measures on a war footing to control the spreading dengue outbreak across Tamil Nadu. He warned that administrative inertia and official complacency had allowed vector-borne infections to escalate into a grave public health emergency, threatening the lives of thousands of citizens, particularly infants and children.
Stalin pointed out that government primary health centers and district headquarters hospitals were overwhelmed with patients presenting high fever, acute platelet drop, and viral complications. However, essential testing kits, specialized diagnostic reagents, IV fluids, and pediatric beds were in severe short supply. Municipal corporations and rural panchayats had failed to conduct systematic fogging operations, source reduction campaigns, and anti-larval spraying to eradicate mosquito breeding in stagnant water pools. Stalin criticized health department officials for attempting to suppress morbidity data and downplay fatalities rather than implementing aggressive containment protocols. He emphasized that saving precious lives required proactive community sanitation and adequate hospital resources.
Stalin demanded that the state government immediately establish special fever wards and deploy mobile medical teams across all affected districts.
