DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin declared during the state-wide bandh that all fifty parliamentarians of the AIADMK, spanning the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, should resign their seats if the Union government fails to constitute the Cauvery Water Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee. He stressed that holding significant parliamentary numbers is utterly futile if legislators cannot defend the fundamental water rights of Tamil Nadu's farming community.

Stalin pointed out that with thirty-seven Lok Sabha members and thirteen Rajya Sabha members, the AIADMK constituted the third largest political block in the national parliament. Despite this formidable numeric strength, the ruling party's MPs had completely failed to compel Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. Delta farmers faced catastrophic crop losses as Karnataka defied court orders and choked water supplies. Stalin argued that instead of engaging in passive posturing, elected representatives must demonstrate true political courage by resigning their seats en masse to trigger a constitutional crisis in New Delhi.

Stalin asserted that the DMK will relentlessly mobilize public opinion to hold ruling party parliamentarians accountable to the people.
