DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin called upon the AIADMK state government to grant full operational autonomy to the Tamil Nadu police force to curb escalating communal tension and maintain public order in Coimbatore and Tiruppur. He emphasized that Tamil Nadu has historically stood as a cradle of social harmony and secular brotherhood, and disruptive forces must not be allowed to fracture public peace.

The industrial hubs of Coimbatore and Tiruppur witnessed heightened unrest, bandhs, and incidents of violence following the murder of a Hindu Munnani functionary. Stalin condemned all forms of violence, arson, and intimidation targeting commercial establishments, transport vehicles, and religious places of worship. He pointed out that political interference by ruling dispensation ministers had handcuffed senior police officials, preventing timely, firm, and impartial law enforcement action against miscreants. Stalin stressed that maintaining communal amity was crucial not only for civilian safety but also for sustaining the thriving industrial, textile, and manufacturing ecosystem that supports millions of workers in the western region.

Stalin insisted that the administration act decisively without fear or favor to bring offenders to justice and restore communal harmony.
