DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin asserted that all thirty-seven Lok Sabha members belonging to the AIADMK and the lone BJP parliamentarian from Tamil Nadu should immediately resign en masse if they cannot exert sufficient political pressure on the Union government to constitute the Cauvery Water Management Board. He stated that having the third largest parliamentary contingent in the Lok Sabha was utterly meaningless if it could not defend the vital interests of Tamil Nadu's farmers.
Stalin pointed out that while delta districts faced catastrophic crop damage and agrarian distress due to Karnataka's defiance, the ruling AIADMK MPs remained silent spectators in New Delhi instead of confronting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He condemned the Union government's legal duplicity in opposing the constitution of the Cauvery board before the Supreme Court. Stalin argued that if elected representatives failed to use their collective parliamentary strength to secure constitutional rights, their continued occupation of parliamentary seats was a betrayal of the electorate.
Stalin asserted that the DMK will mobilize people across Tamil Nadu to hold elected parliamentarians accountable for their silence.
