DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin expressed profound anguish and sternly condemned the AIADMK government and the state health department for gross negligence leading to the tragic deaths of four newborn infants at the Egmore Children's Hospital in Chennai. He stated that the preventable loss of innocent young lives exposed the absolute paralysis of governance and the dangerous breakdown of public healthcare standards in the state.

Stalin pointed out that premier government tertiary hospitals across Chennai suffered from acute shortages of pediatric life-support systems, ventilators, essential emergency medications, and specialist nursing staff. Unhygienic hospital surroundings, inadequate sanitation protocols, and decaying infrastructure had severely compromised patient safety, disproportionately endangering underprivileged infants admitted from economically disadvantaged families. Instead of addressing chronic systemic deficiencies and modernizing hospital wards, the ruling regime remained indifferent and unresponsive. Stalin noted that while Tamil Nadu previously commanded national acclaim for maternal and infant healthcare, continuous administrative apathy had thoroughly degraded medical delivery systems.

Stalin demanded an immediate high-level expert inquiry into the infant fatalities, stringent accountability for responsible authorities, and urgent upgrading of hospital equipment.
