DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin met with representatives of the United Forum of CIPET Unions in Chennai and received a formal memorandum opposing the Union government's unilateral move to shift the headquarters of CIPET outside Tamil Nadu. The delegation of employees and trade union leaders briefed him on the widespread unrest and career uncertainty caused among administrative, technical, and faculty staff.

The union leaders highlighted that CIPET was founded in Chennai in 1968 and functioned as the premier coordinating center for twenty-eight regional campuses across the country. They voiced serious apprehensions that relocating the corporate headquarters would undermine the job security of local employees, disrupt ongoing advanced research programs, and disadvantage regional engineering graduates. Stalin assured the union representatives of DMK's total solidarity and pledged to take up their legitimate demands directly with the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. He commended the staff for their organized resistance in protecting state institutions from bureaucratic relocation schemes.

Stalin reiterated that the DMK will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with trade unions to protect employees' rights and keep CIPET headquartered in Chennai.
