I request PM @narendramodi &Union Minister @AnanthKumar_BJP to not shift #CIPET headquarters frm Chennai against the interest of TamilNadu

DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar to immediately halt all attempts to relocate the headquarters of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) away from Chennai. He stressed that shifting this premier autonomous national institution would be deeply detrimental to the industrial and educational interests of Tamil Nadu.

Established in Guindy, Chennai, in 1968 with United Nations Development Programme support, CIPET had grown into an international center of excellence for technical training, testing, and research in plastics and polymer engineering. Stalin pointed out that Tamil Nadu was a pioneer in polymer processing and plastics manufacturing, providing employment to lakhs of youth. Relocating its prestigious apex headquarters to New Delhi or elsewhere would erode Chennai's standing as a leading educational and industrial hub. He urged the Union government to respect federal conventions and honor the historic association between premier national institutes and host states.

Stalin asserted that the DMK will firmly resist any systematic attempt to divest Tamil Nadu of historic national institutions.
