DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin welcomed leaders of various political parties and representatives of farmers' associations at an all-party consultative meeting convened to address the Cauvery water crisis. The gathering in Chennai brought together prominent regional parties, agricultural unions, and civil society groups to forge a unified stance on safeguarding Tamil Nadu's legitimate riparian rights.

Stalin underscored the urgent need for collective political action to defend the livelihood of delta farmers who faced severe drought and crop devastation due to Karnataka's persistent refusal to release water. He pointed out that while the AIADMK state government remained inactive, opposition parties had a democratic responsibility to organize and demand the immediate constitution of the Cauvery Management Board by the Union government. Participants discussed various joint agitation strategies, including state-wide demonstrations and representations to central authorities, to compel compliance with Supreme Court directives and interstate water tribunal orders.

Stalin affirmed that the DMK would continue to lead united democratic mass efforts alongside agricultural organizations to protect the state's vital water interests, delta ecology, and rural agrarian economy across Tamil Nadu.
