DMK leader M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning on November 8, 2016, asserting that the time had arrived to unmask and resist deceptive, extra-constitutional forces operating behind the scenes to run a proxy government in Tamil Nadu in total defiance of democratic traditions and public mandate.
Stalin pointed out that following the prolonged hospitalization of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, unconstitutional coteries and unelected intermediaries had seized effective administrative control of state machinery. Key policy decisions, transfers of senior civil servants, and financial sanctions were being executed without democratic accountability or transparent ministerial scrutiny. Comparing these manipulative powerbrokers to predators disguised in innocent garb, Stalin cautioned that running government operations through backdoor influence severely degraded constitutional governance and mocked the electorate's democratic choice.
The opposition leader demanded that elected ministers and constitutional authorities, including the Governor, act decisively to restore institutional transparency and democratic legitimacy. Stalin affirmed that the DMK, as the principal opposition party, would remain vigilant against any extra-constitutional hijacking of executive authority, pledging to mobilize democratic forces across Tamil Nadu to defend the rule of law and legislative supremacy.
