DMK leader M.K. Stalin launched a sharp critique against the AIADMK regime on November 10, 2016, asserting that governance in Tamil Nadu had deteriorated from rule through remote video conferencing into a completely absent, invisible administration.
Stalin observed that while the state was previously managed largely through prerecorded video announcements without ministerial accountability, the ongoing hospitalization of the Chief Minister had brought administrative machinery to an absolute standstill. Cabinet ministers remained preoccupied with intra-party manoeuvres rather than attending to public duties, leaving key government departments completely rudderless. Crucial decisions regarding drought management, public healthcare crises, civic infrastructure, and economic stagnation were left unattended by senior bureaucrats who lacked clear policy direction from elected ministers.
The opposition leader emphasized that the citizens of Tamil Nadu deserve transparent, active, and accessible governance rather than ghost-like rule conducted behind closed doors. Stalin demanded that the Governor and the council of ministers act responsibly, provide clear administrative transparency, and actively ensure that constitutional governance functions effectively to address and resolve the pressing daily grievances, economic challenges, and welfare needs of the people of Tamil Nadu.
