DMK leader M.K. Stalin visited various storm-battered neighbourhoods across his Kolathur assembly constituency on December 14, 2016, to personally supervise ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts following Cyclone Vardah. During the inspection, Stalin inaugurated free emergency medical camps, met affected families, and directly distributed essential relief packages including food packets, potable drinking water, and blankets to distressed residents.
Stalin reviewed field operations with local civic workers and volunteered alongside party cadres to clear fallen trees obstructing arterial avenues and school zones. Observing stagnant stormwater and sewage contamination in low-lying localities, Stalin directed medical personnel to administer preventative medicines and maintain round-the-clock clinics to avert waterborne disease outbreaks. He interacted with local traders, sanitary workers, and elderly citizens to evaluate their immediate requirements for municipal support.
The opposition leader emphasized that public representatives had a primary duty to stand with their constituents during natural calamities. Stalin assured local residents that the DMK relief apparatus would remain active until civic normalcy was completely restored. He urged Chennai Corporation officials to speed up debris disposal and restore piped water supplies to protect public health across vulnerable urban neighbourhoods.
