DMK leader M.K. Stalin distributed prizes and certificates on December 18, 2016, to students who excelled in statewide speech, essay, and poetry competitions organized by the DMK Youth Wing. The statewide academic contests were conducted across all districts to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dravidian icon and former Chief Minister Arignar Anna.

Stalin commended the young participants for demonstrating exceptional linguistic proficiency, historical insight, and progressive thinking through their speeches and writings. He emphasized that the DMK Youth Wing initiated these intellectual competitions decades ago to inspire school and college students, refine their communication skills, and familiarize youth with democratic ideals and social justice principles. Engaging the younger generation in constructive intellectual debate was Anna's cherished vision for fostering an enlightened, rational society.

The opposition leader encouraged the winning students to cultivate a passion for continuous reading, social awareness, and ethical public conduct.
