DMK leader M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning on December 21, 2016, regarding extensive Income Tax raids that exposed rampant corruption within the highest tiers of the state administration. He insisted that investigating agencies ensure that corrupt political executives, complicit bureaucrats, and shadow powerbrokers who accumulated illicit fortunes through official abuse do not escape punitive legal consequences.

Stalin highlighted that the seizure of unaccounted cash, gold bullion, and documents revealed the entrenchment of corruption within government procurement and mining contracts. The nexus between ruling politicians, senior civil servants, and private intermediaries had systematically looted public wealth meant for welfare and civic infrastructure. Stalin stressed that public anger had reached boiling point, demanding that federal enforcement bodies avoid selective prosecution aimed at shielding key political patrons.
