DMK leader M.K. Stalin demanded on December 22, 2016, that the Tamil Nadu government undertake urgent institutional reforms to insulate the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission from partisan interference. He called upon the ruling administration to appoint men and women of unimpeachable integrity, high administrative competence, and proven scholarship as members of the constitutional recruitment agency.

Stalin pointed out that the commission governed recruitment for key administrative, police, and executive positions across the state government apparatus. Past practices of filling vacancies with ruling party functionaries and political sycophants severely undermined merit-based selections, demoralizing millions of hardworking aspirants preparing for competitive examinations. Stalin stressed that political patronage within recruitment bodies damaged administrative capability and subverted social justice, which depended on equitable, corruption-free public examinations.

The opposition leader affirmed that restoring credibility to the public service watchdog required transparent selection rules grounded in constitutional guidelines. Stalin urged the government to establish an independent selection committee comprising eminent jurists and scholars to nominate commission members. He reiterated the DMK's commitment to protecting the rights of educated youth, demanding that the recruitment body be entirely freed from partisan influence.
