DMK leader M.K. Stalin demanded on December 23, 2016, that central investigating agencies pursue every political figure implicated in the corruption scandal surrounding suspended Chief Secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao. Emphasizing that extensive Income Tax raids had uncovered massive illicit assets and incriminating documentation, Stalin stated that corrupt top-tier political bosses directing bureaucratic operations must not evade legal accountability.
Stalin observed that civil servants did not act in isolation when manipulating large-scale public procurement, sand mining contracts, and administrative approvals. Behind bureaucratic irregularities lay influential ministers and ruling party leaders who profited directly from systemic graft. Stalin warned that limiting prosecution solely to official intermediaries while shielding powerful political patrons would reduce federal anti-corruption inquiries to mere cosmetic exercises designed to manipulate state governance.
The opposition leader urged investigative authorities to conduct an impartial, comprehensive probe reaching the highest echelons of the state administration. Stalin affirmed that public faith in institutional integrity could be restored only through transparent, decisive action against all perpetrators regardless of political position. He called upon investigators to expose the entire corrupt syndicate, recover illicit wealth, and hold key ruling figures accountable before law.
