DMK leader M.K. Stalin strongly questioned Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on December 27, 2016, over his continued silence regarding unprecedented Income Tax raids conducted inside the state Secretariat and the controversial assertions made by former Chief Secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao. Stalin emphasized that Rao had publicly asserted that he continued to be the legitimate Chief Secretary, while alleging that central forces had violated state autonomy during the searches.

Stalin pointed out that searches conducted by central investigating agencies within the administrative nerve center of Tamil Nadu were an unprecedented institutional event in the state's history. Yet, the Chief Minister had neither clarified whether he sanctioned the searches nor addressed the grave corruption allegations emerging against high-ranking officials. Such prolonged official silence created intense public suspicion and eroded executive credibility.

The opposition leader demanded that Panneerselvam break his silence and issue an exhaustive statement outlining the administration's stance. Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu citizens had every right to know the truth regarding Secretariat raids, high-level administrative complicity, and official accountability. He reaffirmed that the DMK would continue to demand complete transparency and uphold constitutional integrity.
