DMK leader M.K. Stalin commended thousands of citizens, students, and youths who gathered at Chennai's Marina Beach on January 8, 2017, to demand the restoration of Jallikattu. With the Pongal harvest festival approaching, the continued legal prohibition on conducting the traditional bull-taming sport had provoked profound resentment across the state.
