DMK working president M.K. Stalin visited the village of Keezha Erukkai in Ariyalur district on February 5, 2017, to console the family of Nandhini, who was brutally assaulted and murdered. Stalin met with the victim's grieving parents and relatives at their residence, offering heartfelt condolences and assuring them of the DMK's comprehensive solidarity and legal assistance in their fight for justice.
Stalin listened to the family recount the harrowing ordeal and their frustrations with preliminary police handling of the complaint. He expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy, underscoring that no family should ever endure such unbearable cruelty. Stalin assured the community that the DMK would not allow the crime to be forgotten or diluted by bureaucratic indifference, promising sustained advocacy until the perpetrators received maximum legal punishment.
The opposition leader highlighted the urgent necessity of strengthening protective safeguards for vulnerable young women, particularly in rural and marginalized areas. Stalin demanded that the district administration expedite statutory compensation, provide adequate security for witnesses, and ensure the case was tried before a special court. He reiterated that the DMK remained unyielding in its commitment to defending women's dignity and security across Tamil Nadu.
