DMK working president M.K. Stalin responded forcefully on February 8, 2017, to allegations leveled by AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala against the DMK. Speaking after caretaker Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam staged a dramatic revolt at former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's memorial on Marina Beach, Stalin noted that Panneerselvam had publicly listed severe humiliations inflicted upon him by Sasikala's family circle.
Stalin asserted that the AIADMK leadership lacked the political courage to provide direct answers to the serious allegations raised by their own chief minister. Instead of addressing internal coercion, institutional manipulation, and leadership disputes, Sasikala had attempted to shift blame onto the DMK by alleging secret collusion. Stalin condemned this narrative as an evasive tactic designed to distract the public from internal party decay.
The opposition leader warned the ruling faction against dragging the DMK into their factional feud. He stated that the people of Tamil Nadu recognized the truth behind Panneerselvam's revelations regarding forced resignations and administrative interference. Stalin maintained that the DMK remained focused on upholding democratic norms, legislative transparency, and public welfare while AIADMK leaders fought bitterly for factional control.
