DMK working president M.K. Stalin lauded the people of Tamil Nadu on March 3, 2017, stating that their peaceful mobilization against the Neduvasal hydrocarbon extraction project had shown the world how citizens can democratically defend their fundamental rights. Referring to the widespread civic movement under the banner SaveNeduvaasal, Stalin commended the unity displayed by agrarian families, rural women, students, and village elders who sustained disciplined demonstrations without succumbing to administrative provocations or political pressures.

Stalin emphasized that the agrarian struggle in Pudukkottai district reflected a profound civic consciousness regarding environmental preservation and generational food security. Following the historic mass mobilization for Jallikattu, the disciplined gatherings in Neduvasal demonstrated that Tamil Nadu's civil society possesses extraordinary capacity for peaceful collective resistance against hazardous industrial decisions imposed by central authorities. He noted that the moral force of peaceful mass protest poses an undeniable challenge to authoritarian policy imposition.

The opposition leader stated that popular democratic movements deserve profound administrative respect rather than police surveillance or official indifference.
