DMK working president M.K. Stalin affirmed on March 25, 2017, that although legislative discussions on the annual state budget were severely truncated by the government, DMK legislators fully recognized their constitutional responsibilities and conscientiously fulfilled their duty toward Tamil Nadu's citizens. Stalin pointed out that despite treasury attempts to rush financial approvals without adequate scrutiny, the opposition benches utilized every allocated minute to dissect revenue shortfalls, fiscal deficits, and mounting state liabilities.
Stalin detailed how DMK representatives forcefully articulated pressing public grievances, including unpaid crop insurance dues, acute agrarian distress, failing public distribution supplies, and severe civic infrastructure deficits. The opposition effectively exposed how the state's ballooning debt profile offered zero allocation for capital development or fresh employment generation. Stalin maintained that constructive, evidence-based legislative intervention remains vital to holding the executive branch accountable to taxpayers.
The opposition leader praised the party's legislative contingent for their disciplined preparation and dedicated conduct inside the house. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently champion citizens' socio-economic rights, ensuring that parliamentary forums remain robust instruments of democratic accountability and public welfare across Tamil Nadu.
