DMK working president M.K. Stalin launched a sharp critique on March 29, 2017, against competing factions of the ruling AIADMK, asserting that their reckless indulgence in corruption has thoroughly ruined Tamil Nadu. Stalin remarked that the ruling establishment had fragmented into rival syndicates, one tied to foreign exchange violations and the other linked to sand mining cartels. He emphasized that these self-serving groups abandoned public welfare entirely, engaging in ruthless competition to control illicit wealth and state patronage.
Stalin observed that the prolonged paralysis in governance had devastated the state's industrial climate, stalled critical welfare initiatives, and burdened ordinary citizens with unprecedented fiscal distress. Farmers were agitating in national capital without state support, students faced acute educational uncertainties, and civic infrastructure in urban centers was decaying rapidly. Meanwhile, ruling factions remained obsessively focused on maintaining power through illicit cash distributions and unprincipled backroom maneuvering.
The opposition leader stressed that Tamil Nadu's proud legacy of administrative excellence and progressive social development had been severely damaged by governing incompetence. He reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast determination to deliver transparent, forward-looking governance that restores the state's rightful dignity.
