DMK working president M.K. Stalin extended warm fraternal greetings on March 29, 2017, to Telugu and Kannada-speaking citizens on the joyous occasion of the Ugadi New Year festival. Stalin called upon neighboring southern states to extend hands of friendship to one another and reinforce the timeless linguistic and cultural bonds of the grand Dravidian family. He expressed sincere hopes that the auspicious dawn of the New Year would usher in peace, prosperity, and harmony for all families.
Stalin emphasized that the southern states share profound civilizational ties, common cultural roots, and shared democratic aspirations rooted in social justice. Throughout centuries, people across linguistic boundaries lived in mutual harmony, enriching literature, art, commerce, and agricultural progress. The opposition leader pointed out that close collaboration between Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala remains essential to protect federal rights, water resources, and economic autonomy against centralizing tendencies.
The DMK leader reiterated his commitment to fostering interstate goodwill, regional solidarity, and cultural unity among all Dravidian peoples. He wished all linguistic brethren abundant happiness, good health, and comprehensive success in the upcoming year.
