Editorial context

DMK working president M.K. Stalin personally handed over more than 3,000 valuable books to various community library organizations and educational trusts at Anna Arivalayam on March 31, 2017. The diverse collection of literary, historical, scientific, and socio-political volumes comprised books presented to Stalin by cadres, writers, scholars, and well-wishers during his travels across Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed his longstanding practice of channelling gifted books to rural reading rooms, student hostels, and municipal libraries.

Stalin highlighted the vital role that libraries play in fostering critical thinking, rational enquiry, and democratic empowerment among young citizens. Drawing inspiration from Perarignar Anna's enduring motto that books are indispensable companions for progressive enlightenment, Stalin emphasized that promoting reading habits is central to Dravidian social advancement. He observed that community reading rooms historically served as crucible centers where self-respect ideals and scientific knowledge reached working-class youths.

The DMK leader urged party functionaries and the public to continue presenting books instead of expensive shawls and floral bouquets. He promised continued institutional support to expand library networks, ensuring affordable knowledge access for students and researchers across Tamil Nadu.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
