DMK working president M.K. Stalin engaged directly with local merchants, traders, and small market vendors during an extensive evening walk through the commercial hubs of Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar on April 3, 2017. Stalin visited bustling market stalls, wholesale shops, and informal roadside kiosks, listening attentively to the business community's daily challenges. Shopkeepers shared serious concerns regarding steep local taxes, harassment from municipal inspectors, inadequate market infrastructure, poor lighting, and absence of modern waste disposal systems.
Stalin highlighted how small businesses and self-employed entrepreneurs form the vital economic backbone of urban neighborhoods. Yet, six years of administrative indifference had left traditional marketplaces congested, unhygienic, and structurally deteriorating. Stalin assured the traders that the DMK firmly champions micro-enterprises and local commerce. He pledged that a DMK legislator would actively push for upgraded market facilities, dedicated parking spaces, prompt trade license clearances, and proper civic maintenance across all commercial zones.
The opposition leader stressed that supporting small entrepreneurs is central to sustainable urban economic revival. He promised sustained institutional assistance, modern market stalls, and accessible representation to foster flourishing local business communities across North Chennai.
