DMK working president M.K. Stalin proclaimed on April 3, 2017, that a decisive victory for the DMK in the Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar by-election would serve as the opening blow to dislodge both corrupt ruling factions from Tamil Nadu. Addressing thousands of citizens during intensive election campaigning, Stalin stated that the two warring groups within the AIADMK were chips off the same corrupt block. He emphasized that the by-poll outcome would catalyze widespread political change across the state.
Stalin observed that public disillusionment with the ruling dispensation had reached a historic crescendo. Governance had completely collapsed, statutory institutions were undermined, public debts were skyrocketing, and essential municipal services were neglected. By supporting DMK candidate Marudhu Ganesh, the voters of RK Nagar would voice the collective frustration of seven crore citizens who demanded an end to misrule, kickback scandals, and administrative paralysis. Stalin promised that a DMK victory would herald the restoration of democratic sanity.
The opposition leader urged cadres and volunteers to work tirelessly in every neighborhood. He affirmed that the DMK's victory would re-establish popular sovereignty and usher in a progressive, welfare-oriented government for Tamil Nadu.
