உயர்நீதிமன்ற தீர்ப்புக்கு பின்னும் அதிமுக அரசு மக்கள் நலப் பணியாளர்களுக்கு மீண்டும் பணி வழங்காதது போல, விவசாயிகளையும் வஞ்சித்து விடக்கூடாது

DMK working president M.K. Stalin sounded a strong cautionary note on April 4, 2017, warning the AIADMK government not to betray distressed farmers following the Madras High Court judgment, as it had notoriously done with rural welfare workers. Stalin highlighted the historic high court verdict directing the state to extend cooperative loan waivers to all farmers irrespective of landholding size. He insisted that the administration must comply with the judicial directive immediately instead of seeking bureaucratic loopholes to deny farm relief.

Stalin recalled that thousands of Village Welfare Workers (Makkal Nala Paniyalar) had been left in perpetual distress after the ruling dispensation repeatedly ignored high court rulings ordering their reinstatement. He warned that treating drought-hit farmers with similar executive malice or filing needless appeals would cause irreversible catastrophe across rural Tamil Nadu. With unprecedented drought devastating crops and driving agrarian families to suicide, the state had a moral obligation to provide immediate, unconditional debt relief.

The opposition leader affirmed the DMK's steadfast solidarity with the farming community. He demanded prompt implementation of the court order to rescue farmers from predatory indebtedness and rural poverty.
