DMK working president M.K. Stalin led an exhaustive door-to-door outreach campaign across the Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency on April 8, 2017, urging electors to vote for the Rising Sun symbol and defeat corrupt political factions. Stalin walked through dense residential alleys, bazaars, and worker colonies, interacting directly with thousands of residents. He emphasized that the by-election offered people an historic opportunity to send an unequivocal message against ruling party administrative malpractice and financial greed.
Stalin observed that ordinary families in North Chennai had suffered prolonged civic neglect while rival ruling factions fought bitter internal battles for control over power and spoils. Essential amenities including quality primary healthcare, clean drinking water, unpolluted waterways, and employment opportunities for local youths had remained completely ignored. The opposition leader assured residents that DMK candidate Marudhu Ganesh was an accessible, honest local worker who would serve the community round the clock with total dedication.
Stalin stated that the rising wave of grassroots enthusiasm proved that citizens desired clean, democratic governance. He called upon voters to turn out in overwhelming numbers and choose progressive representation under the DMK's visionary leadership.
