DMK working president M.K. Stalin declared on April 9, 2017, that the electorate of Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar had made up its mind to reject corrupt political operators and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam. Stalin pointed out that Panneerselvam had served three separate terms as Chief Minister without delivering meaningful welfare programs or civic infrastructure for the state. He criticized Panneerselvam's sudden attempt to adopt an aura of innocence after being a key collaborator in long years of administrative decay.

Stalin pointed out that rival factions of the ruling AIADMK were merely competing for political dominance rather than serving public interests. Both factions shared direct culpability for economic stagnation, agricultural distress, and institutional decay that crippled Tamil Nadu over recent years. By attempting to mask past complicity behind moral posturing, Panneerselvam was attempting to mislead the public. Stalin maintained that discerning voters recognized the political hypocrisy and would reject both self-serving factions decisively.

The opposition leader asserted that only the DMK possesses the institutional vision, integrity, and administrative capability to restore progressive governance in Tamil Nadu. He urged electors to vote for genuine democratic accountability.
