DMK working president M.K. Stalin appealed directly to Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on April 9, 2017, urging her to cooperate with the democratically elected government and dedicate herself toward the union territory's comprehensive development. Stalin emphasized that administrative harmony between constitutional appointees and popular representatives remains essential for advancing citizen welfare. He pointed out that obstructive governance practices create needless paralysis and directly hurt ordinary citizens who depend on everyday public services.
Stalin observed that constitutional authorities should act as facilitators of governance rather than adversaries of popular mandates. In a parliamentary democracy, executive authority primarily rests with elected ministers who remain directly answerable to the people through legislative oversight. When gubernatorial offices overstep administrative boundaries, planned developmental schemes, municipal works, and welfare measures grind to an unfortunate halt. Stalin stressed that public interest must always take precedence over personal administrative friction.
The opposition leader reaffirmed the DMK's historic commitment to cooperative federalism and democratic conventions. He urged the Lieutenant Governor to respect administrative boundaries and collaborate constructively with the elected cabinet to ensure rapid economic progress and social wellbeing across Puducherry.
