DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded on April 10, 2017, that the Election Commission take immediate action to register Central Bureau of Investigation cases against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and state cabinet ministers named in income tax raid recovery lists. Stalin expressed profound concern over official documents seized during searches at health minister C. Vijayabaskar's properties, which showed systematic cash distribution schemes ahead of the Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar by-election. He emphasized that clean public life and electoral integrity were gravely imperiled by top executive corruption.

Stalin asserted that when constitutional functionaries face grave financial allegations backed by official investigative evidence, state police agencies cannot ensure an impartial probe. The seized ledgers allegedly detailed hundreds of crores routed through cabinet members to influence voters. Stalin maintained that only an independent CBI inquiry monitored by the Election Commission could bring political wrongdoers to justice and protect democratic faith.

The opposition leader stressed that public trust in democratic institutions collapses when ministers misuse public authority with total impunity. He urged statutory authorities to act fearlessly against corrupt networks. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to clean administration and principled governance across Tamil Nadu.
