DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a stern assessment of the political climate on April 10, 2017, warning that abuses of administrative power, illicit cash distribution, and voter bribery would never cease as long as the current AIADMK regime remained in office. Stalin made these remarks following revelations of massive cash flows and gift distribution uncovered by enforcement agencies during the aborted R.K. Nagar assembly by-election. He described corruption as an inherent feature of the proxy administration.
Stalin emphasized that the ruling dispensation lacked a legitimate public mandate, having attained power through backroom arrangements following factional splits. Because the regime lacked popular support and moral authority, it relied exclusively on bureaucratic coercion, police interference, and financial inducements to maintain its hold on governance. When ministers and elected officials prioritize personal enrichment and vote-buying over civic development, the state's financial stability and democratic institutions suffer irreparable harm, leaving ordinary citizens to bear the consequences of misrule.
The opposition leader concluded that the only permanent remedy for this institutional decay was the removal of the ruling dispensation. Stalin urged the people of Tamil Nadu to unite behind the DMK to restore integrity, transparency, and progressive governance across the state.
