DMK working president M.K. Stalin formally urged the Governor of Tamil Nadu on April 12, 2017, to exercise constitutional authority by recommending a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into rampant corruption within the AIADMK administration. Stalin stated that the constitutional crisis unfolding in the state had reached intolerable levels, as documents seized during recent tax raids pointed to systematic illicit financial flows involving the highest executive officials, including the Chief Minister and senior cabinet members.
Stalin argued that because state police departments and local investigative agencies operate directly under the control of the very ministers accused of misconduct, an impartial domestic inquiry was fundamentally impossible. The integrity of state governance demanded an external, independent agency to examine allegations of money laundering, kickbacks in government contracts, and large-scale voter bribery. Preserving the rule of law required immediate constitutional intervention from Raj Bhavan to prevent evidence tampering and restore public trust.
The opposition leader affirmed that the DMK would continue to pursue all constitutional avenues to hold the corrupt administration accountable. Stalin emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu deserve honest, transparent leadership, declaring that the opposition will not compromise until a comprehensive central investigation is instituted.
