DMK working president M.K. Stalin visited Thiruvarur on April 24, 2017, to personally submit a comprehensive petition to the District Revenue Officer, demanding prompt administrative resolution of essential civic and infrastructure issues. Acting on behalf of DMK President M. Karunanidhi, who represented Thiruvarur in the state legislative assembly, Stalin highlighted key grassroots grievances that had been brought forward by local residents, farmers, and municipal ward committees.

Stalin detailed urgent local requirements, including the restoration of rural drinking water supply networks, repairs to damaged rural roads, clearance of irrigation canals, and uninterrupted electric power for agricultural pumps. He noted that despite repeated representations, local administrative departments had delayed basic developmental works, causing immense inconvenience to residents during severe summer heat. Stalin emphasized that elected representatives and party leaders have a constitutional duty to ensure bureaucratic responsiveness to citizen needs.

The opposition leader urged the district administration to execute the requested works on a war footing without political bias. Stalin assured the people of Thiruvarur that the DMK leadership would continuously monitor the implementation of these civic projects, making sure that public amenities are restored and grievances resolved promptly.
