DMK working president M.K. Stalin announced on April 28, 2017, that the party would organize comprehensive seminars across all districts of Tamil Nadu to inform citizens about the Union government's language policies and the refusal to grant exemption from NEET. Stalin explained that grassroots public awareness was essential to counter policies that threaten the educational opportunities of rural students and dilute regional language rights. These district seminars would bring intellectuals, educators, and citizens together to deliberate on these critical issues.
Stalin emphasized that the BJP-led central administration was persistently attempting to impose Hindi while disregarding the unanimous resolutions passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly seeking exemption from NEET. By bypassing regional concerns, the Union government was undermining cooperative federalism and creating acute distress among aspiring medical students. He maintained that informing the public through structured democratic dialogues would build a resilient statewide consensus against these discriminatory central policies.
The DMK leader instructed district party units to coordinate closely with civil society organizations, academics, and student groups. Stalin concluded that Tamil Nadu's historic defense of linguistic rights and social justice would continue through organized democratic enlightenment.
