DMK working president M.K. Stalin addressed a large gathering in Vellore on May 6, 2017, mounting a vigorous challenge against the Union government's language policies and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Speaking before thousands of residents, Stalin made it clear that Tamil Nadu would never yield its hard-won educational autonomy or accept cultural homogenization. He underlined that the DMK remains committed to preserving linguistic equality and equitable access to higher education for every student in the state.
Stalin argued that imposing Hindi across central institutions and making NEET mandatory directly undermined the foundational principles of Indian federalism. Rural students and those from underprivileged backgrounds faced severe disadvantages when standardized tests bypassed the state curriculum. He explained that Tamil Nadu had methodically built a high-quality medical education system over decades through its own public universities, a system now endangered by unilateral central mandates.
The opposition leader affirmed that the DMK would take this fight to every district across Tamil Nadu. Defending regional language rights and student welfare, he insisted, is not merely a political stance but an ongoing historic duty. Stalin urged youths and parents to stand united against administrative overreach and protect state rights.
