DMK working president M.K. Stalin conveyed warm felicitations on June 3, 2017, celebrating the ninety-fourth birthday of DMK president M. Karunanidhi and his historic diamond jubilee of legislative service. Stalin observed that on this historic occasion, tributes and warm greetings poured in not only from every corner of Tamil Nadu but from national leaders and citizens across India.
Stalin emphasized that the nationwide outpouring of respect reflected Karunanidhi's stature as one of modern India's most accomplished parliamentarians and political thinkers. Since his first election to the Madras Legislative Assembly from Kulithalai in 1957, Karunanidhi maintained an unbroken electoral record, shaping key policies on social reform, welfare entitlements, state autonomy, and infrastructure growth. His life's work demonstrated how legislative power could be harnessed to uplift marginalized communities and establish enduring social security programs.
The opposition leader stated that the DMK and the people of Tamil Nadu took immense pride in Karunanidhi's milestone.
