DMK working president M.K. Stalin criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on June 11, 2017, using sharp clinical metaphors to describe the state's governance. Speaking in the context of the newly inaugurated Pudukkottai Government Medical College, Stalin remarked that the institution did not need to treat ordinary citizens as much as the Chief Minister himself, whom he described as an outpatient requiring urgent political treatment.
Stalin argued that the ruling administration had grown detached from public priorities and paralyzed by internal instability. Rather than focusing on delivering accessible medical infrastructure and administrative stability, the leadership remained preoccupied with clinging to power through controversial political alignments. He contended that administrative inaction in public health and governance reflected an administration unfit to manage public institutions effectively.
The opposition leader stated that the DMK would continue to highlight the shortcomings of the state government across all forums. Public healthcare institutions, he noted, should serve the people rather than provide photo opportunities for an unstable cabinet. Stalin concluded that Tamil Nadu required decisive, accountable leadership to restore confidence in public administration and healthcare services across every district.
