DMK working president M.K. Stalin attended the wedding ceremony in the family of former Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister and senior DMK leader Poondi K.P.P. Samy in Chennai on June 16, 2017. Addressing the gathering of party cadres and well-wishers, Stalin paid tribute to Poondi K.P.P. Samy's lifelong dedication to the Dravidian movement and his tireless championship of the fishing community's welfare along the northern coastal belt of Chennai. Stalin recalled Samy's exemplary service as Fisheries Minister in M. Karunanidhi's cabinet, where he spearheaded major welfare initiatives, modern harbor infrastructure, and subsidized relief programs for marine fishermen. Stalin emphasized that maintaining close family bonds with grassroots party veterans remains a foundational strength of the DMK.
