DMK working president M.K. Stalin raised urgent questions on June 25, 2017, concerning the fate of thousands of meritorious students who scored outstanding marks in the state higher secondary examinations but secured poor scores in the centralized National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Stalin demanded to know what remedy the state government offered to hardworking students whose medical aspirations were suddenly crushed by an alien examination pattern.

The opposition leader stated that rural and first-generation learners had devoted years of disciplined study to master the state board syllabus, achieving academic excellence through sheer perseverance. However, the sudden imposition of NEET, formulated around a different central syllabus and commercial coaching paradigms, created an unfair hurdle that rural students could not afford to bridge. Stalin stressed that discarding twelve years of proven school education in favor of a single high-stakes entrance test was fundamentally unjust and discriminatory.

Stalin urged the state administration to take immediate policy and legal steps to protect the admissions chances of meritorious state board students. He reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently fight for permanent exemption from NEET to safeguard educational equity across Tamil Nadu.
