DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a strongly worded statement on July 3, 2017, condemning the state government for extending the deadline to implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations for Tamil Nadu government employees. Stalin urged the administration to halt unnecessary procedural delays and implement the revised pay structure immediately to provide rightful financial relief to public servants, teachers, and municipal staff.
The opposition leader pointed out that while central government employees and staff in several other states had already received revised salaries and allowances, Tamil Nadu's workforce was left waiting indefinitely. Instead of fulfilling its commitments, the state government repeatedly granted extensions to official committees, creating acute frustration among government workers who manage public services amid escalating living costs. Stalin emphasized that administrative efficiency suffers when the legitimate welfare needs of government servants are neglected.
Stalin demanded that the state cabinet announce an immediate timetable for disbursing pay commission arrears and revised salary scales. He reiterated that the DMK stands solidly behind public employees and teachers in their struggle for fair compensation and timely wage revisions across Tamil Nadu.
