DMK working president M.K. Stalin expressed grave concern on July 7, 2017, over the breakdown of institutional governance in Tamil Nadu. Stalin asserted that the ruling administration had turned completely deaf to the rule of law, creating conditions where constitutional bodies were compelled to wage open institutional battles against executive decisions. He noted that such friction demonstrated an acute constitutional breakdown inside the state machinery.
The opposition leader stated that democratic governance relies on mutual respect between constitutional authorities and the executive branch. When an administration systematically ignores statutory rules, court directives, and oversight bodies, institutional credibility collapses. Stalin pointed out that rather than cooperating with statutory commissions and regulatory bodies, the ruling dispensation treated legitimate constitutional checks as political opposition.
Stalin urged the state leadership to respect constitutional norms and adhere strictly to legal boundaries. He emphasized that the DMK would consistently resist arbitrary executive overreach and defend democratic traditions. Upholding administrative integrity remains essential for ensuring justice, stability, and public faith across Tamil Nadu. He cautioned that continued friction damages the welfare of citizens and degrades the constitutional stature of Tamil Nadu's executive institutions.
