Editorial context

DMK working president M.K. Stalin firmly asserted on July 25, 2017, that securing exemption from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a fundamental constitutional right rather than a discretionary grant distributed at the whim of the central government. Criticizing state leaders for merely pleading for temporary postponements, Stalin stressed that Tamil Nadu should not seek extensions like beggars when demanding federal respect is a matter of legitimate state entitlement.

The opposition leader underlined that health and education policies must reflect regional requirements and social justice imperatives. Tamil Nadu had eliminated entrance tests through state legislation to ensure equitable opportunities for rural candidates and first-generation learners. By treating entrance exam exemptions as optional central concessions, the ruling state dispensation weakened Tamil Nadu's principled constitutional challenge and conceded crucial federal prerogatives without resolute resistance.

Stalin affirmed that the DMK would never compromise on state dignity or educational equality. He called for unwavering collective assertion to halt central imposition entirely rather than accepting piecemeal administrative delays. His strong intervention reframed the anti-NEET campaign around democratic self-respect, state rights, and institutional integrity for the state's student community.
