DMK working president M.K. Stalin called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to participate in statewide human chain demonstrations on July 27, 2017, to challenge the forced imposition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Stalin declared that united citizen action and resounding public slogans across districts would defeat the authoritarian dominance represented by the centralized examination system. The demonstration aimed to safeguard state educational autonomy and medical aspirations of rural students.
The opposition leader highlighted that Tamil Nadu's equitable medical admission model, established through decades of policy reform, was systematically undermined by central entrance mandates. Students from state board schools and underprivileged rural backgrounds faced severe structural disadvantages under the national testing format. Stalin asserted that education must remain responsive to regional social diversity rather than being governed by uniform central dictates that disregard grassroots realities.
Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to defending state rights against central encroachment. He urged students, youth cadres, parents, and civic organizations to join hands peacefully across towns and cities to register collective resistance. The upcoming mobilization demonstrated the party's proactive stance in channeling genuine public grievances into disciplined democratic action for social justice.
