DMK working president M.K. Stalin announced on July 27, 2017, that despite the ruling regime's desperate attempts to suppress dissent by arresting him, the statewide human chain agitation against NEET succeeded with extraordinary public fervor. Stalin stated that the police detained him in Coimbatore while he was traveling to Salem to lead the protest, hoping to demoralize participants. However, the authoritarian move backfired, galvanizing lakhs of students, parents, and cadres across all districts into an even more resolute display of democratic resistance.

Stalin highlighted that from Chennai to Tirunelveli, citizens assembled peacefully along designated public corridors, holding hands and raising slogans against the central imposition of NEET. The unprecedented public mobilization demonstrated that when students' futures are threatened, administrative repression cannot crush the collective voice of the people. Rather than arresting opposition leaders, the government should have displayed similar administrative vigor in securing presidential assent for state exemption bills.

The DMK leader commended party district secretaries, alliance leaders, and ordinary citizens for maintaining absolute discipline while executing a historic demonstration. Stalin affirmed that the DMK's crusade for state educational rights would continue unabated.
