DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded on July 31, 2017, that all AIADMK members of parliament resign their seats immediately if they proved incapable of securing exemption from NEET for Tamil Nadu. Stalin stressed that with thirty-seven Lok Sabha members and significant strength in the Rajya Sabha, the ruling party possessed substantial legislative leverage. However, their total passivity in New Delhi allowed the Union government to disregard unanimous legislation passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Stalin pointed out that medical admission deadlines were rapidly approaching, leaving lakhs of state board students in profound emotional agony. Hardworking rural youths who excelled in higher secondary examinations were being systematically barred from medical education due to an alien CBSE-based testing framework. If ruling party parliamentarians could not disrupt parliament or force the central leadership to grant presidential assent, their continuation in office was entirely meaningless.
The DMK leader urged all MPs from Tamil Nadu to prioritize student welfare above party loyalty and tender their resignations to demonstrate genuine solidarity. Stalin affirmed that DMK would continue fighting relentlessly across all forums to protect educational rights.
