DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded on August 3, 2017, that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami dismiss Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar from the state cabinet without delay. Stalin highlighted that Vijayabaskar was deeply implicated in massive financial misappropriations and systemic corruption scandals ranging from illicit stone quarry licenses to the multi-crore gutkha bribery network. The continuous retention of a heavily tainted minister stripped the administration of all moral authority and compromised public trust in state institutions.

Stalin stated that official investigative documents and tax audit seizures had revealed unaccounted financial transactions implicating top ministerial corridors. Allowing an official under active investigation to control vital public welfare and health departments created severe conflicts of interest, enabling the destruction of evidence and intimidation of witnesses. Shielding corrupt colleagues to protect fragile legislative numbers demonstrated that the ruling faction prioritized political survival over administrative integrity.

The DMK leader insisted that constitutional propriety required immediate sacking and criminal prosecution of Vijayabaskar. Stalin affirmed that the DMK would pursue judicial remedies and mass democratic mobilizations until institutional accountability, public probity, and transparent governance are fully restored in Tamil Nadu.
