DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded an unconditional public apology on August 13, 2017, from Chief Minister Palaniswami, state cabinet ministers, and AIADMK parliamentarians for betraying Tamil Nadu medical aspirants. Stalin asserted that the ruling dispensation staged deceptive dramas regarding exemption from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test while secretly capitulating to central directives. By repeatedly offering false promises to anxious students and parents, the state leadership caused immense psychological distress and jeopardized the futures of thousands of hardworking rural learners.
Stalin pointed out that both houses of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed statutory bills seeking exemption from NEET. However, the state government failed to secure presidential assent, passively allowing the Union government to stall the legislation. Ruling party MPs refused to stall parliamentary proceedings or apply decisive political leverage in New Delhi, functioning instead as compliant onlookers.
The DMK leader insisted that the ruling establishment must accept full moral responsibility for dismantling state educational rights. Stalin declared that the DMK-led alliance would vigorously continue legal and popular struggles until complete exemption from NEET is secured for Tamil Nadu.
