DMK working president M.K. Stalin called upon the central BJP government on September 6, 2017, to recognize that granting permanent statutory exemption from NEET was the only viable solution for Tamil Nadu. Stalin asserted that continuing to enforce a uniform nationwide entrance test disregarded the state unique socio-economic realities and centuries of progressive social engineering. The tragic loss of meritorious rural aspirants like S. Anitha clearly demonstrated that centralized testing created insurmountable institutional barriers for students educated in regional languages.

Stalin pointed out that Tamil Nadu robust medical infrastructure, recognized globally for superior primary healthcare, was created entirely by admitting students based on their higher secondary marks. Forcing state board candidates into an examination based exclusively on central CBSE syllabi amounted to blatant discrimination against 95 percent of Tamil Nadu student population. The Union government rigid stance severely violated constitutional federalism and encroached upon state rights in educational policy.

The DMK leader demanded that New Delhi respect the unanimous will of the Tamil Nadu Assembly and grant presidential assent to the state exemption bills without delay. He stressed that preserving public healthcare standards depended entirely on protecting equitable medical admissions.
